Marketing

The marketing of genetically modified, pathogenic or alien organisms (small invertebrates), is subject to authorisation. The SECB issues Statements on applications for authorisation, and assesses any impacts on the environment.

Anyone who wishes to market genetically modified, pathogenic or alien organisms for use in the environment requires authorisation. This includes the sale, exchange, import and transfer of such organisms. Different licensing procedures apply, depending on the product. The SECB issues Statements on the marketing of genetically modified organisms, primarily concerning genetically modified plants and the tolerance of traces of unlicensed GMOs in food. The SECB also issues Statements on plant protection products and biocidal products consisting of or containing organisms.
